reSLience… a.k.a. resilience

it's what lies within that really matters

Some things stand the test of time. We don’t realize it in the moment. We are so surrounded from all sides, we often lack clarity. But it is in those moments where we show what we are made of.

No greater President in my mind than Franklin D. Roosevelt. He faced a world in between wars. He faced a country with citizens desperate for solutions. On so many levels, he looked fear in the face and won the stare down.

I heard this quote this morning and thought it was so fitting for our times as well.

Take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly, and try another. But by all means, try something.
~ Franklin D. Roosevelt

This other famous quote also applies.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself – nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.
Franklin D. Roosevelt

The media is so overwhelmingly full of doom and gloom. There seem to be more stories about the prospects of further market failure and further foreclosures and higher unemployment each evening. At what point, do we decide enough is enough?

Did you know it takes the same amount of energy to worry as it does to have faith? Next time you feel that worry creeping up on you… consider faith as an alternative. Abundance is something any of us can have. Doors never shut without windows opening. It is just as easy to be half full as it is to be half empty.

I think I’ll print this all on the palm of my hand and read and re-read. I need to really soak up all these thoughts. Abundance baby ๐Ÿ™‚
